Detailed DescriptionGlendalough is an independent distillery founded by five friends that has lead the craft revival in Ireland. Having made a splash with their poitín styles, this double-barrel whiskey is a step in a new direction. It’s made from a mash bill of malted barley and corn distilled in Coffey stills. It matured for 3 years in ex-bourbon barrels and finished its maturation in 500-liter oloroso sherry casks. Please note, updated packaging for this product in 2018.Glendalough Double Barrel Single Grain Single Grain Irish Whiskey Tasting NotesNose: A creamy, malty nose begins with rich vanilla, white chocolate and buttery fudge. Notes of cooking apples, white grapes, marzipan icing and toasted oak form in the backdrop.Palate: Succulent caramel, salty melted butter and crème anglaise provide a thick, decadent sweetness with a fruity underlay from blackberries and marmalade.Finish: Polished oak and a hint of wood spice linger.Distillery InformationBeginning operations in 2011, Glendalough holds the distinction of being Ireland’s first craft distillery. Founded by five friends with a passion for spirits and Irish lore, the brand combines time-honored traditions with various modern breakthroughs to craft a range of unique spirits unlike anything available in the market. These include traditional Irish spirits like whiskey, poitin, and later even gin – all showcasing their penchant for experimentation and willingness to break convention.
