Description

Detailed Description
The Tanduay Gold Asian Rum offers a flavour profile which is familiar to any rum drinker, yet at the same time it perhaps features a hint of the exotic with respect to fruit and spices which makes the rum somewhat unique as well. The overall flavour features a subtle, but welcome departure, from the flavour profile of the typical Caribbean Rums which are more prevalent in North America.
Tanduay Gold Asian Rum Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of cedar and dried fruits are followed by hints of caramel and vanilla.
Palate: Warm dry smoked honey and vanilla leads to buttery almond fruit pastry and floral notes.
Finish: Warm finish lingers with echos of toasted oak and cigar box.
Distillery information
Tanduay Distillers, Inc. is one of the oldest and biggest brands in the distilled spirits category with a 99% share in the rum category in the Phillipines. The company has 5 production facilities HQ in Manila, the Barcolod Plant, the Cabuyao Plant, and the El Salvador Plant. Tanduay starting selling in the US in 2012. The original Tanduay distillery adopted its name from its location, a triangular region encircled by the estuaries of San Miguel and San Sebastian in Manila, which Spanish mapmakers referred to as Isla de Tanduay. The word “Tanduay” originated from the word “tang-uay”, an old Tagalog term for “peninsula”. The word also meant “low-lying land” because the entire area, including Quiapo, was frequently flooded during the rainy season.
