Detailed Description
The Irishman Founder’s Reserve was the first blend created by Bernard Walsh. A combination of 70% single malt and 30% single pot still whiskeys, it’s triple distilled and aged in bourbon casks. Jim Murray awarded it 93 points, calling it ‘a quite wonderful blend’.
The Irishman Founders Reserve irish Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Peach Campino sweeties (they also made the strawberries and cream sweets), apples and a soft, spicy hint of white pepper.
Palate: Plenty rich with a glorious mouth-feel. More ripe fruits, paired with vanilla and cinnamon.
Finish: Very long.
Distillery Information
Deep within the scenic Carlow countryside in Royal Oak, sits the 18th century home of the Walsh Whiskey Distillery. The family owned and operated company was founded by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh, previous owners of a ski chalet in France, in search of the perfect Irish whiskey with which to spike their famous coffee. Eventually, their search led them to the founding of their whiskey brand Irishman in 1999.
